CHARITYWARE

FlWorld is Charityware; free to download and use, for an
indefinite period, but if you like it you are invited to make
a small donation to a charity of your choice. See online help
within the application for more information.

INSTALLATION

  1) Close all applications on your Psion.

Note: If you do not close all applications before installing
the two OPX *.sis applications in the next step, you may
have problems with OPX versions, later.

  2) Using PsiWin2 or the "Add/Remove" icon on the EPOC control
panel (if you have it), install the two OPX *.sis files:

        Alarm.sis
        Systinfo.sis

IMPORTANT: The supplied OPXs are for ARM-based machines,
such as the Series 5, Series 5mx, Series 7, Revo, etc. If
you wish to run this application on the EPOC emulator then
please contact the OPX author, Symbian Ltd (web address
     above) for the appropriate versions.

If you get a message saying that a later version than
the one supplied has already been installed on your machine
then don't allow the older version to overwrite the newer.

  3) Using PsiWin2 or the "Add/Remove" icon on the EPOC control
panel (if you have it), install the main application
     *.sis file:

       FlWorld.sis

If you get a message that one of the two OPX SIS files has
not been installed at the correct level then return to the
     previous step.

During this step, you will be asked whether you would
like to install the colour bitmaps for FlWorld. Select
'Yes' ONLY IF YOU HAVE A COLOUR MACHINE, else select 'No'
to use the standard grey-level bitmaps.

  4) If you wish to try the supplied sample FlWorld document
files, copy them into any document folder on your machine.
     The samples named as follows:

       Africa
       Americas
       Asia
       Australasia
       Europe
       MiddleEast
       USA

See below for more information about these samples.

  5) Finally, look in the "Extras" draw on the machine for the new
     "FlWorld5" icon.

Note: If FlWorld fails to start, see the next section about
     OPX versions.

Please consult your Psion manuals for more details of these
operations, but let me know if you're having problems.

IF YOU HAVE PROBLEMS WITH OPX VERSION

In order to achieve Series 5mx (EPOC R5) compatibility, FlWorld
requires the supplied versions (or later) of the Alarm.opx and
Systinfo.opx on all machines. Installing the supplied *.sis
files should ensure you have the required levels installed.

Unfortunately, there are some older and misbehaved applications
out there which do not supply these OPXs correctly and these may
cause problems with FlWorld and other applications that require a
newer version. In addition, you my have problems if another
application is running and has locked the OPX file when you
install FlWorld.

If you experience messages about incompatible OPX versions
(or perhaps even operating system kernel errors) when starting
FlWorld, please consider the following tips.

  1) Close all applications and reinstall the two supplied OPX
*.sis files on to your Internal (C:) drive. Attempt to
     restart FlWorld.

  2) If you still have problems, backup your machine (if
possible). If you have installed the "Add/Remove" icon on
your Series 5 Control Panel, use it to remove the package
with a name similar to "RMR Systinfo OPX", if present. Next,
remove manually \System\OPX\Systinfo.opx from both C: and D:
     drives, if present.
Now, reinstall the two supplied OPX *.sis files on to your
Internal (C:) drive and attempt to start FlWorld again.

NOTE: I recommend keeping a copy of Systinfo.sis and Alarm.sis
handy in case installing another misbehaved application in the
future should regress the level of the OPXs and cause problems
with FlWorld and other applications.

UNINSTALLING

If you have finished with this software you can remove the
application as follows:

  1) Make sure the FlWorld application is not running.

  2) Remove any saved FlWorld settings documents that you
      no longer require.

  3) Using the "Add/Remove" icon on the EPOC control panel,
      remove the "FlWorld" application.

After you have completed these steps, FlWorld will have been
removed from your machine's memory and "Extras" bar.

NOTE: I DO NOT recommend removing the two small OPX files,
installed by the two additional supplied *.sis packages, as they
may also be used by other applications.

BASIC USE

FlWorld is simple to use. The display consits of up to six
clocks, displaying the time in different cities. Three
displays are available:

  Hall display
   - displays a row of large clocks and additional information.

  World map
   - displays a column of smaller clocks, plus a map of the
world and a moon phase display.

  Big clock
   - a version of the World map display with a larger clock.

You can configure the displays using the "Preferences..."
menu option and select different cities from your machine's
built-in world database, with the "Choose cities..." option.

See the online Help (available from the menu) from more
information.

SAMPLES

When first started, FlWorld attempts to find a selection of
cities from around the world, which you can then tailor to
suit your needs. However, the ZIP distribution includes some
additional sample FlWorld document files, each containing a
(pretty arbitrary) selection of cities in a general
geographical area. If you install these files, you can simply
click on the document on the System screen to display the set
of cities you wish to display.

You can use FlWorld documents to organise different sets of
cities in any way you wish. For example, you could create
one document for work and another for friends and family.

NOTE: The samples use the English (UK) spelling of city names
and so some cities may fail to display on other language
machines. If this happens when you open the sample file, simply
correct the spelling for your own language, or enter a different
city name.
